A potential bomb attack was thwarted in the Kışla Industrial Site in Ereğli district yesterday evening. The incident began when Batuhan Y’s father noticed that his son’s car was leaking oil from underneath and took it to a motor mechanic in the industrial site. Upon inspecting the car’s undercarriage, the mechanic discovered a bomb device, prompting him to alert the police.
Investigators from the Crime Scene Investigation, Counter Terrorism, and Public Safety departments conducted a thorough examination of the vehicle. A bomb disposal team was then called to the scene, and security measures were heightened in the area. The bomb was safely detonated by a bomb disposal expert using a controlled explosion.
It was revealed during the investigation that the bomb device was rigged with explosive devices known as “torpils,” which were attached to the bottom of the motor using a medicine box. The intention was for the torpils to detonate once the motor heated up upon starting, causing damage to the car. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
As part of the investigation, statements were taken from Batuhan Y and his girlfriend Rabia S. Rabia S claimed in her statement that her ex-boyfriend Serdar E had become obsessed with her and had frequently threatened both her and her boyfriend Batuhan Y. Based on these statements, investigators determined that Serdar E had placed the bomb device under the car. Upon his arrest, a map of Rabia S’s residence was found in Serdar E’s possession. Despite denying the accusations during his interrogation at the police station, Serdar E was referred to the court for further legal proceedings.
