Ezekiel Elliott is confident he can reclaim primary running back role upon return to Cowboys

Ezekiel Elliott, a former two-time rushing champion, has returned to the Dallas Cowboys after signing a one-year deal worth up to $3 million. Despite being expected to be part of a running back committee, Elliott believes he is still a dominant player and is motivated to prove it. He will be wearing his Ohio State number, 15, after switching from his previous number, 21, in a nod to a new era for him. Elliott is looking forward to reuniting with quarterback Dak Prescott, with whom he had success during their rookie seasons.

After being drafted fourth overall in 2016, Elliott and Prescott led the Cowboys on an 11-game winning streak and earned the top seed in the NFC playoffs. However, they fell short in the postseason, and Prescott narrowly beat Elliott for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Prescott was reportedly thrilled by Elliott’s return to the team, praising his work ethic, leadership, and the culture he brings to the locker room. Elliott spent last season as a backup with the New England Patriots but is set to have a larger role with the Cowboys this upcoming season.

Despite declining production in recent years, with just one 1,000-yard season in the past four, Prescott believes Elliott is the perfect fit for the team. Elliott, who is the third-leading rusher in Cowboys history, behind legends like Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett, is determined to achieve postseason success with the team. The Cowboys have struggled in the playoffs in recent years, often getting knocked out in the divisional round. Elliott is determined to help change that narrative and chase a championship ring with the team.

Ezekiel Elliott feels he has unfinished business with the Dallas Cowboys and is determined to help the team achieve postseason success. Despite facing doubts about his effectiveness as a runner, Elliott believes he can still be a dominant player and is motivated to prove himself. His reunion with quarterback Dak Prescott has sparked excitement in the team, with Prescott praising Elliott’s character, work ethic, and leadership abilities. Both players are eager to work together and strive for success in the upcoming season.

The Cowboys have added a few new running backs to their roster, but Prescott believes Elliott is the perfect fit for the team due to his honesty, work ethic, and ability to both have fun and be serious when needed. Elliott, who has three Pro Bowl appearances under his belt, is focused on helping the Cowboys overcome their postseason struggles and make a deep playoff run. With Elliott’s experience and leadership, the team hopes to turn things around and compete for a championship. The reunion between Elliott and the Cowboys has reinvigorated the team and fans alike, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
