Heavy rain that started last night and continued until late hours, reappeared in the evening today.
Due to the intense rainfall, water accumulated in some streets and avenues. The rain caused disruptions in traffic, with some vehicles stranded on the roads. In some areas, there were traffic accidents resulting in damage.
In Sıhhiye, a section of the road collapsed.
Unprepared for the rain, citizens experienced difficult moments, with water flooding some homes and businesses in certain areas.
In Tandoğan Mahallesi in the district of Sincan, Mesut Yılmaz found himself stranded on top of his vehicle, which broke down due to floodwater. He stated that the water suddenly rose on the road due to the heavy rain, saturating the spark plugs of his car, causing it to break down and leaving him stranded.
Yılmaz recounted, “When the car started to fill with water, I opened the window and climbed onto the roof. After 20-30 minutes, when I tried to get on the municipality’s excavator, I slipped and fell into the water. Fortunately, I am unharmed. The vehicle does not work. I barely managed to save myself.”
In the same neighborhood, Hüseyin Tekin, whose ground-floor home was flooded, mentioned that every time it rained since 2013, their home would flood, and they could only enter after draining the water.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to drain the water from flooded areas.
