Reportedly, Cowboys and Running Back Ezekiel Elliott to Reunite Following Agreement on Contract Deal

The Dallas Cowboys have reached a deal with former running back Ezekiel Elliott, bringing him back to the team after a year away. The agreement was made pending a physical, and the Cowboys had recently met with Elliott and his representatives leading up to the draft. Dallas did not select a running back in the draft and owner Jerry Jones believed that Elliott was still a starting-caliber back. Elliott, who will be turning 29 when the Cowboys report for training camp in July, spent last season as a backup in New England but started the last five games due to an injury to the starter, Rhamondre Stevenson.

During his time with the Cowboys, Elliott won two rushing titles in his first three seasons with the team. He is currently the third-leading rusher in franchise history with 8,262 yards, behind only Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett. Tony Pollard replaced Elliott last season but did not have the same impact, leading to his departure to Tennessee in free agency. Elliott’s return to the Cowboys brings back a proven talent to the running back position, providing stability and experience to the team.

The reunion with Elliott comes after the Cowboys decided to part ways with him in a cost-cutting move the previous year. The team’s decision not to draft a running back in the recent draft shows their confidence in Elliott’s ability to perform as a starter. Despite being out of action for a season, Elliott’s track record of success with the Cowboys makes him a valuable asset to the team. His return will be a welcome sight for fans and teammates who are familiar with his skill set and leadership on the field.

As the Cowboys prepare for training camp in California, Elliott’s presence will bring depth and veteran leadership to the running back position. His experience and knowledge of the team’s offensive system will be beneficial in helping younger players develop and adjust to the NFL. With Elliott back in the fold, the Cowboys can focus on building a strong running game that complements their passing attack, creating a balanced offensive approach that keeps defenses on their toes. The team’s decision to bring back Elliott demonstrates their commitment to winning and their belief in his ability to contribute to their success on the field.

Overall, the return of Ezekiel Elliott to the Dallas Cowboys marks a significant moment for the team and its fans. His proven track record of success, combined with his familiarity with the organization, makes him a valuable asset as the Cowboys look to compete for a championship. With Elliott back in the lineup, the team has a reliable and experienced running back who can help lead them to victory on the field. As the Cowboys gear up for the upcoming season, the presence of Elliott provides a boost to their offense and gives them a competitive edge in a challenging NFC East division.
