A 26-year-old teacher named Reagan Gray was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy she met at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, which was frequented by former President Bill Clinton. The abuse allegedly began in 2020 when Gray was working as a volunteer at the church and continued even after an initial investigation was conducted. The boy’s parents discovered text messages on their son’s phone and reported the incident to a senior pastor at the church, resulting in Gray being removed from her volunteer position.
In February, authorities became involved in the case after discovering that Gray had been exchanging messages with the boy via Snapchat. During interviews with the FBI, the boy alleged that Gray had given him oral sex multiple times but they did not have sexual intercourse because he wanted to “stay pure.” The abuse reportedly took place in Gray’s car or apartment and occurred nearly a dozen times. A church leader admitted during an FBI interview that Gray had confessed to engaging in a sexual relationship with the boy during a counseling session the previous year.
It is not clear whether the church leader or the victim’s parents alerted investigators to the alleged abuse. The church leader resigned from his position over the handling of the allegations, while Gray was placed on administrative leave from Sylvan Hills Middle School in February during the probe. Gray was charged with sexual assault and was released on a $20,000 bond. The incident raised questions about the handling of abuse allegations within the church and school settings.
