According to information received, the teams of Edirne Provincial Gendarmerie Command caught 5 suspects who were preparing to escape to Greece via the Meriç river using a rubber boat near Akçadam village in Meriç district.
It was determined that the suspects were wanted for membership in the FETO organization, drug trafficking, and forgery of official documents.
The rubber boat in possession of the suspects was also confiscated.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities such as human trafficking and smuggling at the border between Turkey and Greece.
The suspects were taken into custody for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The Edirne Provincial Gendarmerie Command continues its efforts to maintain security and order in the region and prevent illegal crossings and criminal activities along the Turkey-Greece border.
