319 million 990 thousand dollars of exports were made from Trabzon in the first quarter

The Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB) announced that exports from Trabzon in the first quarter of 2024 reached $319,990,203, reflecting a 2% increase compared to the same period the previous year. The highest amount of exports, totaling $199,623,405, was achieved in the hazelnut sector, followed by $41,376,565 in aquatic products and derivatives, $36,238,270 in fresh fruits and vegetables, $9,148,552 in vehicles and automotive parts, and $7,705,384 in defense and aerospace industries.

Kalyoncu highlighted that exports were made to 110 countries from Trabzon in the three-month period, with the top 5 export destinations being Italy, the Russian Federation, Germany, Poland, and France. He noted that exports to Germany increased by 13%, while exports to France saw a 5% growth. Significant increases in exports were also seen in countries such as Japan, Peru, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Denmark, China, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, and Uzbekistan. Additionally, exports to countries like Tunisia, Morocco, Venezuela, and Sri Lanka were conducted this year, which was different from the previous year.

Kalyoncu emphasized the importance of diversifying export destinations and expanding trade relationships with countries around the world. He added that the increase in exports to various countries is a positive sign for the economic growth and competitiveness of Trabzon. The association will continue to support exporters and facilitate their access to new markets to further boost exports from the region.

The DKİB is committed to promoting Trabzon’s products and strengthening the global presence of local businesses. Through various initiatives and trade promotion activities, the association aims to increase the visibility and market share of Trabzon’s exports in international markets. This will not only benefit local exporters but also contribute to the overall economic development of the region.

Overall, the positive growth in exports from Trabzon in the first quarter of 2024 reflects the resilience and competitiveness of the local business community. With strategic planning, quality products, and access to a wide range of international markets, Trabzon continues to establish itself as a hub for trade and commerce. The DKİB will continue to support and empower exporters to capitalize on new opportunities and expand their reach beyond traditional markets.
