In a recent announcement on his social media account, Minister of the Interior Ali Yerlikaya stated that a total of 15 individuals were arrested in coordinated operations carried out by the Mersin Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Gendarmerie General Command Terrorism Department in Mersin, Istanbul, Adana, Ankara, Diyarbakir, Osmaniye, and Yozgat targeting the terrorist organization ISIS.

Yerlikaya also mentioned that operations were conducted in Hatay and Kütahya provinces by the General Directorate of Security Terrorism Department in coordination with the local police departments. In Hatay, 14 suspects who were involved in providing ammunition in the name of ISIS, organizing smuggling activities, and whose names came up in testimonies and identifications were apprehended.

Additionally, in Kütahya, one individual who was found to have been active within ISIS in the past and had connections with organization members was arrested. The operations resulted in the seizure of unlicensed firearms, numerous organizational documents, and digital materials, marking a successful effort by the gendarmerie and security forces involved.

Through the “BOZDOĞAN-35” operations carried out in 7 provinces by the Gendarmerie and in 2 provinces by the Police Department targeting ISIS, a total of 30 suspects were captured. Minister Yerlikaya commended the efforts of the security forces involved in the operations and emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety, unity, and peace of the nation by not allowing any leeway to terrorists. The arrest and seizure of materials demonstrate the continued determination to combat terrorism in the country.

The coordinated efforts of the Gendarmerie and Police Department in various provinces have led to significant arrests and seizures related to ISIS. These operations have targeted individuals involved in providing support, organizing activities, and liaising with the terrorist organization. The apprehension of suspects and seizure of firearms and materials indicate a successful crackdown on terrorist activities in the region.

Minister Yerlikaya’s announcement highlights the commitment of the government to combat terrorism effectively and protect the safety and security of the nation. The arrest of individuals involved in ISIS-related activities and the seizure of weapons and documents are significant steps towards dismantling terrorist networks and ensuring the peace and stability of the country. The operations conducted in multiple provinces demonstrate the government’s resolve to eliminate threats posed by terrorist organizations and safeguard the well-being of the citizens.
