218 people arrested in drug operations in Izmir have been detained

The Narcotics Department of the Provincial Security Directorate carried out 156 operations targeting street drug dealers in order to prevent the accessibility of drugs and ensure that Izmir is recognized as a zero-risk province for drug crimes. The operations were conducted between October 1-31 and resulted in the seizure of 24 kilograms and 357 grams of marijuana, 5 kilograms and 977 grams of cocaine, 35 kilograms and 457 grams of synthetic drugs, 1.39 liters of ketamine, and 158,885 units of synthetic medicine. A total of 332 suspects were detained as a result of these operations.

Following the procedures at the police department, the suspects were transferred to the court. Out of the 218 suspects who were brought before the judge, 218 were remanded in custody. The operations aimed to crackdown on drug trafficking activities in the region and to send a strong message to those involved in illegal drug trade. The successful apprehension and arrest of the suspects is a significant step towards creating a safer environment in Izmir and reducing the prevalence of drug-related crimes in the province.
