According to a statement on the website of the Coast Guard Command, a lifeboat carrying irregular migrants, which had been pushed into Turkish territorial waters by Greek elements and had sunk off the coast of the district, was spotted by the teams and a Coast Guard boat was sent to the area.
Thirteen irregular migrants, including one child, were rescued from the partially sunken lifeboat and the sea surface by the teams.
The irregular migrants were brought ashore and handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management after the necessary procedures.
