In today’s Wordle, the extra riddle from yesterday was revealed to be a play on words involving the word “ton”. The riddle stated “Forward I am heavy, backwards I am not. What am I?” The answer was “ton”, as it is heavy forward and spells “not” backwards. Moving on to today’s Wordle, the hint “One side of something” and the clue that the Wordle ends with a consonant were provided to help solve the puzzle.
The answer to today’s Wordle was “facet”, which comes from the French word “facette”, meaning “little face”. This term has origins dating back to the early 17th century and originally referred to the small polished surfaces of cut gems. Over time, it evolved to metaphorically describe various aspects or phases of a thing, similar to how different faces of a gem reflect light differently. The root of “facette” in French can be traced back to the Latin “facies”, which means “form, appearance, face”.
In terms of competitive Wordle scoring, the player earned 1 point for guessing the word in three attempts. Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points, guessing in 2 is worth 2 points, guessing in 3 is worth 1 point, and so on, with negative points for missing the Wordle entirely. Beating an opponent grants 1 point, tying results in 0 points, and losing to an opponent leads to -1 point. Keeping a daily running score or playing for a new score each day is a fun way to engage in competitive Wordle gameplay.
To keep up with daily Wordle and Strands guides, as well as other entertainment content like TV show reviews, streaming guides, movie reviews, and video game coverage, readers are encouraged to visit the author’s blog for more engaging content. The etymology of the word “facet” is explored, tracing its roots to French and Latin origins related to appearance and surfaces. With a fun mix of riddles, gameplay, and word history, Wordle continues to entertain and challenge players on a daily basis.
