A 31-year-old Florida woman named Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas was discovered shot dead in a fiery vehicle after being carjacked at a busy intersection last week. The incident was caught on camera and it occurred in Homestead. A witness made a frantic 911 call when they saw the abduction taking place, but it was too late. Police responded to reports of smoke and gunfire at an Osceola County construction site where they found Guerrero’s charred remains in a burned vehicle along with shell casings and a bullet.
Authorities are still working on identifying Guerrero through DNA and are actively searching for suspects in the brutal killing. Seminole County Sheriff Dennis M. Lemma stated that they do not believe this was a random act of violence and that the perpetrators appeared to have targeted Guerrero specifically. Guerrero was originally from the Dominican Republic and lived with her husband in Homestead where they both worked at a barbershop and beauty salon. The disturbing footage of the carjacking showed a masked man pointing a gun at Guerrero before getting into her vehicle and driving off.
The carjacking took place just before Guerrero’s 32nd birthday and it was preceded by a call she made to her husband about being followed and rammed by another vehicle. Despite this, neither Guerrero nor her husband called the police. Sheriff Lemma mentioned that there are many unknown factors in this case, such as the reasoning behind not contacting law enforcement or stopping at a red light. Investigators believe that the gunman forced Guerrero to drive to the construction site where her body was found.
Guerrero’s husband informed police that she was visiting family in Central Florida, but upon investigation, authorities were unable to locate any relatives in the area. The motive behind the abduction and killing remains unclear, and no further details about potential suspects have been released. The sheriff emphasized the audacity and boldness of the suspect shown in the video footage, as well as the tragic nature of the incident. The community is shocked and saddened by the loss of a young woman who was targeted and killed in such a horrific manner.
