A woman from Sydney, Kim Edwards, spent over $100,000 on her teeth after undergoing botched dental surgery in Turkey. Initially going overseas for a rhinoplasty after a failed surgery in Sydney, she decided to also get a facelift and veneers done, with a total cost of $30,000. Ms. Edwards researched clinics in Turkey through various online platforms and eventually settled on one with a high rating for her procedures, particularly veneers.

Despite the positive reviews she found, Ms. Edwards was not completely satisfied with the outcome of her dental work in Turkey. Instead of veneers, she came home with blocks of teeth that were joined together. Shortly after returning, a block of teeth fell out, but the clinic dismissed her concerns, claiming she hadn’t cleaned them properly. When Ms. Edwards tried to reach out for further assistance, she discovered she had been blocked on all social media platforms by the clinic.

The issues with her dental work continued, with the bridges falling out, getting infected, and being close to necrosis. After visiting multiple dentists in Sydney, she finally found the Dental Boutique, where it took 12 hours to remove the bridges and a year for her gums to heal. Ms. Edwards had to wear false teeth during this time. After over $80,000 in repairs and 18 months of treatment, she finally received the veneers she initially wanted.

The principal dentist at the Dental Boutique described Ms. Edwards’ teeth as “massacred,” emphasizing the irreversible damage caused by unnecessary crown work done overseas. He highlighted an alarming trend of Australians seeking extensive dental work abroad, resulting in harm to healthy teeth and gums. Ms. Edwards now serves as a warning to others considering overseas cosmetic procedures, urging them to be cautious and avoid the same costly mistakes she made.

Ms. Edwards regrets her decision to seek dental work in Turkey and warns others about the dangers of undergoing cosmetic procedures overseas. She initially thought it would save her time and money, but it ended up costing her significantly more. She stresses the importance of warning friends and others about the risks associated with cosmetic work abroad, noting that social media often presents a misleading image of such procedures. By sharing her story, Ms. Edwards hopes to prevent others from making the same mistakes and potentially saving their health and money in the process.
