Senator Tammy Baldwin, a Democratic senator from Wisconsin, is facing criticism for her past support of federal funding for sanctuary cities ahead of her re-election battle in November. The ad from Minority Leader Mitch McConnell-aligned group One Nation highlights nine occasions when Baldwin voted in favor of federal funding for sanctuary cities, despite measures that would have prevented funds from going to cities with sanctuary policies. The group’s $7.5 million advocacy advertising effort in Wisconsin is part of an $88 million buy that began in April, as the state could determine the presidential election and Senate majority.

The ad also points out Baldwin’s support for amnesty for “11 million illegal immigrants,” including criminals, and references an illegal immigrant arrested for assaults, including the groping of a 13-year-old girl. One Nation’s President and CEO Steven Law criticized Baldwin for making Wisconsin communities less safe by supporting federal funding for sanctuary cities. Baldwin’s campaign did not provide a comment to Fox News Digital. Earlier this year, Baldwin voted against continuing with an impeachment trial for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, citing a lack of evidence and political motives.

Despite Baldwin’s support for a border security bill negotiated by senators from different parties, the measure ultimately failed to garner Republican support. Many Republicans claimed the bill would worsen the existing border crisis. Baldwin and other Democrats have accused the GOP of being unwilling to take action on the southern border. In a July Fox News Poll, Baldwin led her Republican challenger, businessman Eric Hovde, 54-43%. Hovde won the GOP nomination for Senate in Wisconsin, solidifying his position as Baldwin’s opponent in the upcoming election.

The ad from One Nation underscores Baldwin’s controversial votes in support of federal funding for sanctuary cities, amnesty for illegal immigrants, and opposition to a border security bill that failed to garner Republican support. While Baldwin has emphasized her commitment to holding impeachment proceedings to a high standard, she ultimately voted in favor of dismissing articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. As the November election approaches, Baldwin will face scrutiny over her record on immigration and border security issues, as well as ongoing attacks from Republican groups seeking to undermine her re-election efforts in Wisconsin.

The multi-million dollar advertising effort in Wisconsin is part of One Nation’s broader $88 million campaign that began in April, aiming to influence critical swing states like Wisconsin in determining the outcome of the presidential election and Senate majority. Baldwin’s support for sanctuary cities and amnesty for illegal immigrants has drawn criticism, with the ad highlighting instances where she voted against measures that would have prevented federal funds from going to cities with sanctuary policies. As the election nears, Baldwin will need to defend her positions on immigration and border security while facing mounting pressure from Republican groups aiming to paint her as out of touch with Wisconsin voters.
