Whoopi Goldberg, known for her disinterest in marriage, reiterated on a recent episode of “The Don Lemon Show” that she still has no interest in getting married. She expressed that she is a selfish person and values her time with her family over having other people in her life. Despite not wanting marriage, Goldberg mentioned that she does enjoy “hit-and-run” hookups, although she does not allow her partners to spend the night. She emphasized that she had to give herself permission to express her feelings about not wanting marriage due to societal stigma.

Goldberg shared that she used to feel pressure to figure out marriage because of seeing others’ happiness in their relationships. However, she ultimately realized that marriage was not something she truly wanted and that she was content with casual hookups instead. At 68 years old, Goldberg stated that she no longer has time for the give-and-take of marriage and prefers to see her partners on her own terms. She recalled her three previous marriages and divorces, noting that she was relieved each time the marriages ended.

The actress was first married to Alvin Martin, a drug counselor, at the age of 18 in 1973. Their marriage lasted six years, and they share a daughter named Alexandrea. Goldberg later married Dutch cinematographer David Claessen in 1986, but the marriage only lasted two years. Her third and final marriage was to actor Lyle Trachtenberg in 1994, but they divorced after just one year of marriage. Goldberg has been open about her experiences with marriage and divorce, emphasizing that she is no longer interested in pursuing that type of relationship.

Goldberg explained that she has come to terms with her preferences and has embraced her desire for independence and casual relationships. She explained that societal expectations around marriage and relationships can be limiting, and it is important for individuals to define what works best for them. Despite not conforming to traditional norms, Goldberg has found contentment in her current lifestyle. She has been candid about her views on marriage and her commitment to living life on her own terms without feeling pressured to conform to societal expectations. Although she has faced criticism for her unconventional approach to relationships, Goldberg remains steadfast in her beliefs and continues to prioritize her own happiness above all else.
