After a couple of days of relief from the heat, with temperatures dropping from 40°C on Thursday and Friday to 35°C on Sunday, the week begins with a new rise in temperatures that will continue until Friday. However, the situation will change just in time for the weekend, when a significant drop in temperatures is expected along with showers and thunderstorms in much of the country, more abundant in the northern part of the Peninsula. The weather will be hot again, especially between Wednesday and Friday, with highs exceeding 32-34°C in many areas of the northern peninsula and the Balearic Islands, and 36-38°C in the central and southern regions, with minimums not dropping below 20-22°C in the south and the Mediterranean areas.
On Monday, temperatures will rise, especially in the north and east of the Peninsula, and temperatures will reach 35°C in the valleys of the Guadiana and Guadalquivir rivers. However, the weather will be cooler in the Cantabrian region, where temperatures will remain at 20-22°C. In the afternoon, storms will form in parts of the east, center, and south of the Peninsula, which could be locally strong and accompanied by hail or intense gusts of wind.
On Tuesday, temperatures will continue to rise in much of the country, with temperatures exceeding 30°C in many areas of the north, 32-34°C in the center, Extremadura, western Castilla-La Mancha, and Andalusia, and over 34-35°C in the valleys of the Tajo, Guadiana, and Guadalquivir rivers. There will be more storms in parts of the east, center, and south of the peninsula, but they are expected to be less intense.
Wednesday will see a rise in temperatures across the country. The weather will be stable, with some isolated showers possible in the interior in the afternoon, especially in the mountains. The heat will be felt across the country, with temperatures of 32-34°C in Valladolid and Palencia, 35°C in Lleida, Madrid, Toledo, and Zaragoza, and 38°C in Sevilla and Córdoba.
On Thursday, temperatures will rise again, with tropical nights in the northeast, center, and south of the Peninsula. Maximum temperatures will reach 34-36°C in many areas, rising to 36-38°C in the northeast, center, and southern regions, and over 38°C in the Guadalquivir region, with Córdoba approaching 40°C. The presence of an Atlantic low-pressure area will bring more clouds and some scattered thunderstorms to the interior of the Peninsula.
By Friday, the influence of the Atlantic low-pressure system will become more apparent, leading to rain and showers in the Cantabrian region, Galicia, Castilla y León, and northern Extremadura, possibly affecting other regions weakly as well. Temperatures will begin to drop in some areas, but the heat will continue, with temperatures reaching 30-32°C in the northern plateau and southern Galicia, and 34-36°C in the Ebro valley, parts of the Balearic Islands, and central and southern regions of the Peninsula.
On Saturday, rain and thunderstorms are expected in many areas of the country, with the heaviest precipitation in the northwest. On Sunday, the weather is likely to remain unstable, with rain and showers in the northern half of the country spreading to the central region, with isolated showers possible in the southern half and the Balearic Islands. Temperatures will notably drop over the weekend, with a decrease of up to 8-10°C in most areas. The weather is expected to stabilize gradually in the following week, with some showers still possible.
In the Canary Islands, a trade wind regime with clouds in the north of the mountainous islands and clear skies in the south is expected for the next few days. Showers are forecast for the second half of the week, with temperatures remaining unchanged.
