Inarrestabile Diodato, the singer and songwriter from Taranto, continues to achieve success after success with his poetic lyrics, sensitivity to social themes, and distinctive vocals. Just a few days after winning the David di Donatello award for “best original song” with the song La mia terra, he has now also won the Amnesty International Italy 2024 Award in the Big section. The award was given by a jury of journalists, radio and television presenters, intellectuals, representatives of Amnesty International Italy, and Voci per la Libertà. The song, composed for the film Palazzina LAF by Michele Riondino, pays homage to the city of Taranto, moving from myth to origins and history, telling the story of a city affected by injustice and the desire of its people to rise again.

Diodato expressed his gratitude for the recognition from Amnesty International Italy, stating that the issue in Taranto has often been reduced to a mere employment problem, obscuring the real issue of human rights violations. He emphasized that human rights are continuously violated in his city, especially through environmental disasters and violence against living beings. He sees the beauty that Taranto continues to show despite everything as a warning and a call for love and justice. Diodato also thanked Amnesty for their support of Uno Maggio Taranto Libero e Pensante, giving a voice to many individuals who fight for their rights every day.

“La mia terra” is not only a heartfelt dedication to the city of Taranto but also a universal message dedicated to all those who are forced to flee their own land due to wars, persecutions, and disasters. It is a delicate song that, starting from Taranto, leads us to the search for fundamental rights, such as the right to move, live in a safe place, and lead a life worth living. Alba Bonetti, president of Amnesty International Italy, commented on the song’s universal message and its importance in advocating for basic human rights.

The award ceremony for Diodato will be the highlight of the 27th edition of the Voci per la Libertà – Una canzone per Amnesty festival, which will take place in Rovigo from July 19 to 21. The festival aims to promote human rights through music and will feature performances by various artists. Diodato’s contribution through his powerful and socially conscious music has not only earned him recognition but also serves as a reminder of the importance of standing up for justice and advocating for the rights of all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Diodato’s success as a musician and songwriter is a testament to his dedication to using his art as a platform for social change and the promotion of human rights. His ability to create meaningful and poignant songs, such as “La mia terra,” demonstrates his talent in conveying important messages through music. Through his collaborations with organizations like Amnesty International Italy and his participation in events like Voci per la Libertà, Diodato continues to raise awareness and inspire others to take action in support of human rights and social justice causes. His relentless passion for making a positive impact through his music sets him apart as an artist who not only entertains but also educates and empowers his audience to make a difference in the world.
