A natural potato storage facility was being constructed underground in the village of Çarıklı, when a collapse began to occur. Workers who noticed the situation and tried to come out from underground were thrown out by the pressure created by the collapse. Following the notification, gendarmerie, fire brigade, health, UMKE, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, Murat Değirmenli and Murat Aydoğan lost their lives in the incident, while Alpaslan İpek, Seyfettin Kaya, Muharrem Tanak, and Ufuk Ergül, who were injured, were taken to the hospital by ambulances.

Governor Cahit Çelik visited the injured individuals being treated at the Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Training and Research Hospital. Çelik stated that in the incident that took place in Çarıklı village, 2 citizens lost their lives, and 4 citizens were brought to the hospital as injured. He mentioned that the condition of 3 of the injured individuals was severe and expressed his condolences to the deceased and wished quick recovery to the injured. Furthermore, he visited the scene of the incident and received information from the authorities. Çelik emphasized the importance of conducting geological studies before constructing underground potato storage facilities.
