Three suspects whose procedures were completed at the Ankara Police Department were taken to the courthouse after a health check-up. Among the suspects who gave statements to the public prosecutor conducting the investigation, the construction site manager and the responsible engineer were arrested by the duty judge on charges of causing death by negligence.
The court released the machine operator under judicial control. In the incident yesterday on GMK Boulevard in Çankaya district, 16-year-old construction worker Rasim Yılmaz lost his life when the retaining wall collapsed during the debris removal work of the building under demolition.
Following the incident, an investigation was initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the construction site manager, responsible engineer, and machine operator, who were found to be at fault according to the expert report, were taken into custody.
The public prosecutor requested the arrest of the suspects on charges of involuntary manslaughter. After the suspects were brought before the duty judge, the construction site manager and the responsible engineer were arrested, while the machine operator was released under judicial control.
The tragic incident has raised concerns about construction site safety regulations and the importance of proper supervision to prevent such accidents. The investigation into the case is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the full extent of responsibility and hold those accountable for the loss of life.
