Three people, two men and a woman between the ages of 23 and 25, were arrested by the Civil Guard for the murder of a couple, Ángel Villar and Elvira Fernández, both 52 years old, and their daughter Laura, 22, in their home in Chiloeches, Guadalajara. The suspects allegedly stabbed the victims and then set the house on fire to destroy evidence. It is believed that the assailants entered the home with the intention of robbing it and killed the family when they were discovered. The suspects were friends of the victim’s ex-boyfriend, with whom she had a brief relationship that included a report of domestic violence leading to a restraining order.

The bodies were discovered after Yeray, the couple’s other son, returned home to find a fire had broken out. The firefighters were called to the scene and managed to put out the fire after almost two hours of work. The bodies of the couple were found on the ground floor, while their daughter was found on the stairs. All the victims showed signs of being stabbed. The arrests of the suspects, who were from Pioz, a nearby town, were made shortly after the bodies were discovered. One of the suspects is the cousin of the victim’s ex-boyfriend, and another is related to a former mayor of the town.

According to the investigation, the assailants broke into the house thinking it was empty but were discovered by the occupants. The victims resisted the robbery, especially the father, who was described as strong. The criminals decided to kill them, especially after the daughter recognized them as friends of her ex-boyfriend. After the murders, the suspects set fire to the house and fled the scene. It is not clear if they stole anything from the home. The suspects did not enter the gated community through the main entrance, and it is believed they accessed it through a hole in the fence or opened by them.

The investigation revealed that the suspects were not detected by the security cameras of the gated community but were captured by a gas station camera in a nearby town as they fled after setting the house on fire. The main hypothesis is that the attackers thought the house was empty but were surprised by the family. The victims resisted the robbery, leading to the murders. The suspects have had previous run-ins with law enforcement, and one of them is related to a former mayor of the town. The court has ordered the details of the investigation to remain confidential.
