Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry continues to stock fishery resources to meet the need for quality, cheap, and healthy food for citizens living in rural areas, support commercial and sports fishing, sustainably use aquatic resources, and pass on resources to future generations.
Under the “Fish Stocking of Water Resources Project” carried out by the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture, 1 million 681 thousand carp fish fry produced at the Ipsala Fish Production Station facilities in Edirne Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry were released into Terkos Lake and Sazlıdere Dam and other ponds in Arnavutköy, 930 thousand, ponds in Beykoz, 58 thousand, Kısırkaya Pond in Sarıyer, 5 thousand, ponds in Silivri, 63 thousand, ponds in Şile, 275 thousand, Alibey Dam Lake in Sultangazi, 100 thousand, Samandıra Pond and Ömerli Dam Lake in Sancaktepe, 210 thousand, Ömerli Dam Lake in Pendik, 10 thousand, and Terkos Lake in Çatalca, 30 thousand.
The fish stocking program ceremony was held with the participation of Istanbul Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Suat Parıldar, and technical staff of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Branch Directorate, by releasing 10 thousand carp fish fry into Bozhane-Göllü Pond in Beykoz.
Speaking at the ceremony, Parıldar stated that they release carp fry to balance the natural life, balance, and population in the dams and ponds in order to make the ecosystem in the ponds viable. “Our goal is to support fishing activities in amateur and sports terms in addition to fishing in aquatic products. Istanbul holds a very important place in this respect, and we are carrying out this activity in 30 points in 9 districts of our city,” he said.
