A program was organized for the opening of the 52nd drilling well at the Gabar Mountain Şehit Aybüke Yalçın Oil Field. Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, who attended the opening via teleconference at the Zonguldak Filyos Port Natural Gas Processing Plant, recalled that they were in Gabar last New Year’s Day. Bayraktar expressed his appreciation for the hard work of all staff and congratulated them on exceeding 70 thousand barrels of production, with the aim of reaching 100 thousand barrels in the near future.

Bayraktar continued by congratulating the efforts of all those involved, including Turkey’s national oil company, TPIC, for their dedication. He highlighted the importance of Gabar as a substantial project that has brought hope to the region and created over 3,000 jobs. He emphasized the significance of completing the Idil-Dortyol pipeline quickly, showcasing the growth of the Gabar project. Looking forward to 2025, Bayraktar expressed his hopes for new discoveries and production records to be set during the year.

In his remarks, Bayraktar praised the efforts of security forces and all personnel for their diligent work and seamless collaboration in delivering quality services to the public, continuing to make Şırnak a city of hope. He noted the growing interest among young people in Şırnak to pursue careers as petroleum engineers and technical staff in drilling, which opens up new opportunities for them to achieve their dreams.

The Şırnak Governor Birol Ekici stated that 2025 is a year that many around the world are eagerly anticipating with hope, remarking that they have exceeded 70 thousand barrels of oil production and are planning to commence the operation of their 77th well as the first one in 2025. Ekici highlighted their commitment to contributing to Turkey’s national energy efforts and expressed optimism about making more discoveries in 2025 to further boost development.

Ekici underscored that Şırnak has become a symbol of progress, hope, and growth through the efforts of Turkey Petroleum and the oil reserves discovered. He mentioned that last year saw Şırnak as the fastest-growing city in Turkey, with a 44% increase, thanks to the region’s normalization and the restoration of peace and security.
