An accident occurred in the Dilek neighborhood of Yeşilyurt district in Malatya around 9:30 pm. Allegedly, a 17-year-old Alper Efe E. was trying to pass through a level crossing on İstasyon Street when his car was hit by a passenger train traveling from Sivas to Malatya.
The car, driven by Alper Efe E., was dragged under the train for about 200 meters and was completely destroyed in the accident. Unfortunately, the driver lost his life at the scene of the accident.
Following the accident, health and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the area, while gendarmerie teams started their investigation at the scene.
The teams from the Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department conducted a search around the area in case there was someone else in the car. The driver’s body was removed from the car and taken to the Morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy.
The train engineer was taken to the police station to give his statement, and an investigation was initiated regarding the accident. The details and causes of the tragic incident are still under investigation.
