The Houston Texans have unveiled a complete redesign of all four of their uniforms, including new helmets, for the first time since the franchise’s inception in 2000. The home uniforms have some tweaks to the Deep Steel Blue jerseys, including red coloring on the nameplates and a new secondary “H” logo. The away uniforms are Liberty White with a bullhorn-inspired design on the front. The alternate uniforms are a bold Battle Red version of the away jersey, while the color rush uniforms introduce H-Town Blue. The Texans conducted 10,000 surveys and 30 focus groups to ensure the uniforms are “H-Town made” and Texas-inspired.

The Denver Broncos have introduced their “Mile High Collection” of new uniforms, inspired by the Rocky Mountains and the franchise’s history. The Sunset Orange jerseys will be the home uniforms, the Summit White jerseys will be the away uniforms, and the Midnight Navy jerseys will be the alternates. The Broncos also released throwback uniforms honoring the Orange Crush era with oversized white numbers and a Legacy Blue trim. The “Mile High Collection” jerseys have multiple odes to Colorado, including block-style numbering and references to the state’s national parks signage. Over 10,000 fans were surveyed as part of the two-year-long process to design the new uniforms.

The Detroit Lions have combined their past with a modern touch in their new uniform designs, reworking their Honolulu Blue home and away uniforms and bringing back their black alternate uniforms. The redesign was inspired by the Ford Bronco and the Ford Mustang, featuring sleek designs and a mesh collar shape. The black alternate uniforms include blue numbers, a “MOTOR CITY” inscription, and can be paired with all-black pants. The inside collar of the home jerseys has “ONE PRIDE,” and the away jerseys have “DETROIT” inscribed across the chest for the first time in team history.

The Cleveland Browns are bringing back white facemasks to their helmets for the 2024 season, a look associated with the team’s successful eras in the past. The change pays homage to the team’s history, including the Kardiac Kids season in 1980 and Bernie Kosar’s AFC Championship Game appearances in the late 1980s. The Browns have previously worn the white facemask look on a pair of occasions in recent years, winning both games. The facemask change will also alter their logo, featuring a white facemask instead of a brown one, as the team continues to honor its storied history.

The uniform redesigns come as part of a trend across the league, with teams like the New York Jets introducing a “legacy collection” paying homage to past eras in their history. The focus on honoring local culture, team history, and fan input is evident in the new uniform designs across the NFL. Teams are engaging with fans through surveys and focus groups to ensure the new looks resonate with their fan base and represent the identity and values of the franchise. Uniform changes are seen as a way to refresh the team’s image, honor tradition, and connect with fans on a deeper level.
