Former Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt made a statement at his charity event in Sugar Land, Texas that this would be the final year he considers making a potential return to the NFL and head coach DeMeco Ryans may take him up on that offer. Watt, 35, mentioned that he had told Ryan last season that he would be willing to make a comeback if he ever “absolutely need[ed] it.” He stated that he will not continue to train in the same manner after this year, but would still be willing to help out if needed.

Ryans, who played alongside Watt during his final season in Houston before moving on to the Philadelphia Eagles, responded to Watt’s comments with enthusiasm. He expressed his readiness to call Watt if the situation arises. Ryans mentioned that Watt is in good shape and ready to return, indicating that he may need to make that call at some point. When asked under what circumstances he would make that call, Ryans replied, “Now.” This shows that he is open to the idea of bringing Watt back if necessary.

The back-and-forth between Watt and Ryans is open to interpretation, but it seems that the offer may only be valid for one more season. Ryans indicated that he is ready to make the call as soon as Watt is ready to return. The seriousness of the offer and the potential return of Watt to the NFL remains to be seen, but it is clear that both parties are open to the possibility of him coming back to the Texans under the right circumstances.

Watt’s willingness to return to the NFL for the Texans shows his loyalty to the team and his desire to help out if needed. His statement that this would be the final year he considers making a potential return indicates that this offer may not be on the table for much longer. However, Ryans’ response to Watt’s comments suggests that he is open to the idea of bringing him back if the need arises, indicating that the door may still be open for a potential return.

The potential return of Watt to the Texans would bring excitement to fans and add depth to the team’s defense. Watt’s experience and skill set could prove valuable in certain situations, making his return a potentially beneficial move for the team. While the seriousness of the offer and the likelihood of Watt returning remain unclear, the fact that both parties are open to the possibility suggests that there is a chance we may see Watt back on the field with the Texans in the future.

Overall, Watt’s statement at his charity event regarding a potential return to the NFL and Ryans’ response show that there is a possibility for him to come back to the Texans if needed. While the details of a potential return are still up in the air, the openness from both parties to the idea suggests that there may be a chance for Watt to make a comeback. As fans await further updates, the potential return of Watt to the NFL remains a topic of interest and speculation in the football community.
