The Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced on his social media account that a joint operation was carried out by the Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Command, Gendarmerie Intelligence Directorate, Counterterrorism Department, and National Intelligence Organization (MİT). The operation resulted in a clash between gendarmerie commando teams, security guards, and terrorists.

In the operation, Mehmet Yıldırım, also known as “Sofi” on the Interior Ministry’s wanted terrorists list under the gray category, was neutralized in the conflict, as stated by Minister Yerlikaya. He also mentioned that a gendarmerie lieutenant was injured in the clash, but his condition is stable.

According to Yerlikaya, it was determined that the terrorist Yıldırım was involved in six separate attacks where 8 security personnel and 15 civilians were martyred, and 8 security personnel and 10 civilians were injured. Yerlikaya commended the members of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) who participated in the operation, as well as the gendarmerie and security guards.

Yerlikaya emphasized that their operations targeting terrorism and its collaborators will continue without interruption. The security forces will persist in their efforts to ensure the safety and security of the country and its citizens. The successful joint operation demonstrated the effectiveness of coordination between different security agencies in combating terrorism.
