T.J. Holmes, 47, was taken to the hospital via ambulance after suffering an injury during the Chicago Marathon. Running alongside Amy Robach, the former Good Morning America co-anchors had been participating in the event together. Robach shared on social media that Holmes injured his Achilles at Mile 21, sharing photos and videos of him being cared for by emergency personnel while he was on a stretcher. Holmes later posted his own update on Instagram, mentioning that he did not finish the marathon and hinting at a full story to come.

Before the incident, Robach had shared a smiling selfie of herself and Holmes running in the marathon alongside other participants. The pair had recently revealed that they were living together “full time” and sharing a love of running. In addition to the Chicago Marathon, they had also competed in the New York City Half Marathon earlier in the year, having previously participated in the event together as work colleagues.

Both Robach and Holmes had previously been married to other individuals, with Robach reportedly separating from Andrew Shue in August 2022 and filing for divorce in December of the same year. Holmes had been married to attorney Marilee Fiebig before reportedly separating from her in December and also filing for divorce. The couple faced backlash from some of their Good Morning America coworkers after details of their relationship became public, with some colleagues cutting ties with them. Robach shared on their podcast that they felt supported by some coworkers initially, but that support faded after they were let go from their jobs.

Holmes disagreed with the genuine nature of some of their coworkers’ support, calling it fake and B.S. After Robach and Holmes lost their jobs, many of their colleagues distanced themselves from the couple. Robach admitted that once it became clear they were not returning to work, most people she had previously worked with did not reach out to her. The couple’s relationship became public knowledge when a tabloid released photos of them together, leading to a mixed reaction from their colleagues and ultimately affecting their work environment and personal relationships.
