A storm with strong winds reaching speeds of 96.5 kilometers per hour hit the southern coast of Turkey, causing damage to several areas. In Sarıana Mahallesi Mustafa Münir Elgin Boulevard, trees were uprooted and there was damage to play and picnic areas at Burunucu Adventure Park. The roof of Marmaris Municipality Vehicle Fleet Asphalt Storage Area flew onto the Department of Parks and Gardens, causing damage to the building and one vehicle. The roof and some internal walls of the Marmaris Municipality Mezbah also suffered partial damage.

Marmaris Municipality Deputy Mayor Hüseyin Süer and Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Health and Social Affairs Department Manager Ünsal Paşalı conducted inspections with municipal unit directors in the affected areas. Süer expressed relief that there were no casualties during the storm, noting the damage caused to the play areas and picnic spots in Burunucu Adventure Park. He mentioned how the strong winds blew the roof of the vehicle parking area onto the storage facilities of the Parks and Gardens Department. Süer stated that while teams were assessing the damage, they had already begun work to repair it.

Paşalı announced that the Mezbah, which had suffered damage to its roof and interior, would resume operations on Monday. Municipal teams worked to remove the fallen trees and conducted cleaning operations on the streets and roads affected by the storm. The officials emphasized the importance of prompt response and action to restore the affected areas and ensure the safety and wellbeing of the residents and visitors of Marmaris in the aftermath of the storm. They thanked the municipal employees for their efforts in mitigating the impact of the storm and restoring normalcy to the region.

The storm highlighted the significance of preparedness and resilience in coastal areas prone to extreme weather events. Municipalities along the southern coast of Turkey must prioritize measures to strengthen infrastructure, enhance emergency response capabilities, and raise awareness among residents to minimize the risks associated with severe weather conditions. The coordination between different municipal departments and agencies demonstrated the importance of a comprehensive approach to disaster management and recovery efforts. As the affected areas begin the process of reconstruction and repair, the authorities will continue to monitor the situation and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
