Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian recently announced his divorce from his wife, Loreal, in a joint statement. Despite the decision to part ways, the couple stated that they aim to remain friends and are grateful for the love and support they have shared throughout their relationship. The Sarkisians cited the demands of their respective careers as a factor in their split, as it was difficult to prioritize time for each other while being committed to their professional lives. They concluded the statement by thanking supporters and requesting privacy during this transition.

Steve and Loreal Sarkisian got married in 2020, while Steve was working as the offensive coordinator under Nick Saban at Alabama. In 2021, the couple relocated to Austin after Steve was named the head coach at the University of Texas. Throughout his tenure at Texas, Loreal was a familiar face at Longhorns football games, showing her support for Steve and the team. Loreal has a background in track and field, having been a decorated athlete at North Carolina A&T and serving as an assistant coach at the University of Southern California in 2013.

In 2021, Texas finished with a 5-7 record under Sarkisian, but showed improvement in 2022 with eight wins. Sarkisian continues to lead the Longhorns as they prepare for their first season in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The team’s success in the previous season earned them a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinal and they were ranked as the No. 2 team in the SEC preseason poll for the upcoming season. The Georgia Bulldogs were ranked first in the conference’s preseason rankings.

Despite their personal challenges, Steve Sarkisian remains focused on his coaching duties and preparing the Longhorns for their upcoming season in the competitive SEC. As he navigates this new chapter in his personal life, Sarkisian continues to draw support from fans and colleagues. His commitment to leading his team and achieving success on the football field remains unwavering, despite the recent news of his divorce. As he moves forward, Sarkisian will rely on the support of those around him to navigate both his personal and professional responsibilities.
