Due to rainfall, the roads of 6 villages located in Turkey’s first and only biosphere reserve area, Camili Basin in Borçka district of Artvin, were closed for a period of time. After the work carried out by the highway teams with construction equipment, the closed village roads were reopened to traffic. The snow thickness reached 40 centimeters in Camili Pass.

The first snow of the season also fell at the Atabarı Ski Resort. In Şavşat, highland and pastoral areas such as Arsiyan, Eskikale, and Pınarlı Highland, as well as settlements at the foothills of Kaçkar Mountains in Yusufeli, were covered with a white blanket.

Moreover, the season’s first snow also fell at the Atabarı Ski Resort. The local authorities had to use construction equipment to clear the roads so that the village residents could travel in and out of the area safely. This was particularly important for those living in remote areas and dependent on supplies transported via these roads.

The snowfall brought joy to the locals in the region, especially the children who eagerly awaited the opportunity to play in the snow and build snowmen. The winter season had officially arrived in Borçka district, bringing with it opportunities for winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy activities such as skiing and snowboarding at the Atabarı Ski Resort.

Overall, the snowfall in the region had both positive and negative impacts. While it brought joy and excitement to the locals and winter sports enthusiasts, it also caused road closures and transportation issues for the residents of the affected villages. Nevertheless, the authorities worked diligently to clear the roads and ensure that normalcy was restored, allowing the residents to go about their daily lives without any major disruptions.
