Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of protecting children in a recent social media post, stating that safeguarding children is one of their top priorities. He highlighted that just like protecting citizens on the ground, cyber security patrols are also working around the clock to protect virtual citizens.
Under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security’s Cyber Crimes Department, operations were carried out in 77 provinces including Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, Trabzon, Adıyaman, Afyonkarahisar, Eskişehir, Çanakkale, and Mersin. These operations led to the identification of suspects who had downloaded sexual content related to children in computer systems through cooperation with international organizations such as CPS (Child Protection System) and NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children).
Yerlikaya mentioned that a significant amount of digital material was seized as a result of the operations, and he commended the police officers who conducted the operations, praising them as heroes. He offered his best wishes for their safety and expressed gratitude for the prayers and support of the people.
The ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat cyber crimes targeting children have been successful, with operations yielding tangible results. The Interior Minister’s statement serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration between national and international organizations in tackling such offenses effectively.
The operations in various provinces across Turkey underscore the commitment of authorities to safeguard children from online threats and exploitation. The Interior Minister’s acknowledgment of the hard work and dedication of law enforcement officers reflects the government’s stance on prioritizing child protection and ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals in society.
As technology continues to evolve, the threat of cyber crimes against children persists, making it essential for authorities to remain vigilant and proactive in addressing such issues. By working together with international partners and utilizing advanced technology, law enforcement agencies can effectively combat cyber crimes and protect children from harm in the digital world.
