As per information received from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, ship traffic in the Bosphorus was stopped in both directions as of 08.20.
The ship traffic in the Bosphorus, which was stopped in both directions, was reopened in the north-south direction after the completion of the “TAYK Trophy 3rd Leg May 19 Youth and Sports Day – IDO Cup Istanbul Bosphorus Yacht Races” held in the Ciragan Palace-Beykoz/Fenerbahce-Moda route.
The event, which took place on May 19th, aimed to celebrate Youth and Sports Day in Turkey with the yacht races in the Bosphorus.
The General Directorate of Coastal Safety regulates and controls ship traffic in Turkish waters to ensure the safety and security of vessels and maritime activities.
The reopening of ship traffic in the Bosphorus after the yacht races marked the end of the event and allowed normal maritime activities to resume in the area.
The Bosphorus is a key waterway for maritime transportation between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara, and the temporary stoppage of ship traffic for the yacht races showcases the multi-purpose use of this important strait.
