Rudy Giuliani was served notice of his indictment related to an alleged scheme to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona by Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. The formal notice of criminal charges was delivered to Giuliani after weeks of attempts to locate him. The serving occurred during Giuliani’s 80th birthday party in Palm Beach, Florida, causing upset among the guests but Giuliani himself remained unfazed. Despite the timing of the notice, Giuliani’s spokesperson expressed confidence in his full vindication soon.

Giuliani tweeted a taunting message before being served with the indictment, suggesting that if authorities couldn’t find him by the next morning, they would have to dismiss the charges. Hours later, he was served the notice and is expected to appear for an arraignment in Phoenix on Tuesday, pending any delays granted by the court. Giuliani is part of a group of Trump allies who were indicted in Arizona last month for their involvement in the 2020 presidential election scheme, including spreading false claims of voter fraud and encouraging electors to vote for Trump-Pence.

Former Trump lawyer John Eastman, who was charged in the Arizona case, pleaded not guilty to his charges related to attempting to overturn the 2020 election results in the state. Giuliani and the others indicted are scheduled to follow suit in the coming weeks. Giuliani’s legal troubles extend beyond this case, as he has filed for bankruptcy following a defamation lawsuit and is an unindicted co-conspirator in Trump’s federal election subversion case. He also faces multiple charges in the Georgia election subversion case and defamation lawsuits from voting technology companies Dominion and Smartmatic.

The Arizona indictment is just the latest in a series of legal issues Giuliani has faced since his time as Trump’s attorney after the 2020 presidential election. The indictment adds to Giuliani’s bankruptcy filing in federal court and the defamation lawsuit he faced in Georgia. Giuliani has been accused of spreading false information about voter fraud and election rigging, leading to legal action from various parties. With more legal proceedings on the horizon, Giuliani’s legal troubles are far from over.
