The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched a probe into nearly 1.3 million Ford pickup trucks over a faulty gear shift that can lead to a potential wheel lock-up.

On Friday, the safety agency opened an investigation into 2015-2017 Ford F-150 trucks after receiving more than 130 consumer complaints.

Drivers complained of an unrequested gear downshift without any warnings while driving at highway speeds. The vehicles would then rapidly decelerate, according to the NHTSA.

According to some of the complaints, the trucks’ rear wheels would then temporarily lock, seize or skid after the unexpected gear shift.

The wheel lock-ups can cause drivers to lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of crash or injury.

“We are working with NHTSA to support its investigation,” a Ford spokesperson told The Post in a statement.

No crashes or fires linked to the faulty gear shift have been reported, according to the NHTSA.
