More news: Carlos Ulberg Is Primed And Ready For UFC StardomEveryone has been patiently waiting to see if Jones would ever accept a fight with Aspinall, and that appears to finally be happening. Leading up to Jones taking on Stipe Miocic, there was a lot of talk about Aspinall’s skill set being a danger to the greatest fighter in UFC history.Initially, Jones completely blew off the idea of fighting Aspinall. He stated after retaining the heavyweight belt by dominating Miocic that he would rather chase legacy, and named Alex Pereira as a potential next opponent.Naturally, this led to plenty of claims from Aspinall that Jones was ducking him.Jones also went on record saying the UFC would have to pay him “f*** you” money for the fight to happen. It appears that the top MMA promotion is close to whatever that number is for the fight to be made.Jones has dominated most of the opponents he faced throughout his career and has been in a record 17 title fights in the UFC. He retained the light heavyweight belt for the better part of a decade and chose to move up to face a bigger challenge.Jones faced Ciryl Gane for the heavyweight belt at UFC 285 in March 2023. He would suffer an injury and delay his next challenge with Miocic, but the pair finally squared off in Nov. 2024.Jones won by KO/TKO, cementing his legacy once again.Aspinall, on the other hand, has dominated in his own way as well. His lone loss in the last 10 fights was against Curtis Blaydes in July 2022.Aspinall is currently on a two-fight win streak and won the interim heavyweight belt against Sergei Pavlovich in Nov. 2023. He also rematched against Blaydes and defeated him by KO/TKO in July 2024.With Aspinall holding the interim heavyweight belt, and Jones holding the heavyweight belt, it was only a matter of time before the pair faced off. Now, after months of speculation, White has confirmed the pair will meet.More MMA:UFC London: Four Fights To Follow As Former Champion Leon Edwards ReturnsFor more on the UFC, head to Newsweek Sports.
