The New York Mets aren’t done adding to the roster this offseason.Even after signing Juan Soto and a few members of the rotation, the Mets know more work needs to be done.Soto has locked down right field, but the other two outfield spots are question marks. While Brandon Nimmo was originally expected to slot in at left field this season, New York could move him to center with an offensive-minded alignment. In that scenario, Jurickson Profar could fill the other corner outfield spot opposite of Soto.

Profar is coming off of the best season in his MLB career as a .280 hitter with 24 home runs and 85 RBI. He produced 3.6 WAR last year with the San Diego Padres and showed he can be a difference-maker on many occasions.Profar is projected to receive a two-year contract worth $25.8 million. Given how he performed in 2024, this contract would almost be a steal for a team like the Mets. Adding him could give the team one of the best outfield trios in Major League Baseball.Baseball Savant showed that Profar was in the 94th percentile for batting run value. His defensive skills aren’t the strongest, but his offensive production makes up for it.The Mets have Starling Marte, Jose Siri and Tyrone Taylor currently on the roster. One or multiple of them will presumably be traded away or designated for assignment prior to the start of the season.Profar is a major upgrade over any of them, and he would add to the run production. While Pete Alonso was in the picture last season, the Mets finished fifth among National League teams with 768 runs over the course of the season.More MLB: Dodgers Could Trade for $50 Million Outfielder to Strengthen Outfield
