Glue announced a $2 million seed round led by industrial giant Fortive that will help the new Seattle startup bolster its software platform designed to automate the hardware testing process.

Founded in October, Glue formed out of a collaboration between Fortive and Pioneer Square Labs, the Seattle-based startup studio.

Glue uses AI to translate complex hardware design specifications into test automation scripts. The software provides instrument recommendations and generates test plans, among other features, to help companies get their products to market faster.

The company is led by CEO and co-founder David Sulpy, a former VP of test automation at Tektronix, a Fortive subsidiary. Sulpy previously founded data streaming startup Initial State and sold the company to Tektronix in 2018.

Glue CTO and co-founder Will Blaschko previously worked at Amazon leading a team working on Alexa voice technologies.

Pioneer Square Labs’ venture arm participated in the pre-seed round, along with the AIStudio Fund, a new partnership between PSL and Silicon Valley venture firm Mayfield.
