Prince Harry will not attend the wedding of his friend Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, next month. This decision is believed to be in order to avoid tensions with his older brother, Prince William, overshadowing the special day. Grosvenor, who is considered one of the richest men in the U.K., will marry Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral in England, with approximately 400 guests expected to attend. Grosvenor is not only Archie’s godfather but also the godfather of Prince George, William’s eldest son.

The British monarch, King Charles III, is also not expected to attend the wedding as he continues to undergo cancer treatment. The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are scheduled to attend an event commemorating the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France, on June 6, the day before the wedding. Princess Kate Middleton, William’s wife, is also unlikely to attend as she undergoes cancer treatment of her own. William recently gave an update on his wife’s condition during a royal engagement on the Isles of Scilly.

During the royal engagement, Princess Kate’s condition was asked about by an administrator at St. Mary’s Community Hospital. William responded that Kate is “doing well.” He also mentioned that their children are jealous that he was able to attend the event and hinted that they might visit later in the year. Kate publicly confirmed her cancer diagnosis in March after doctors found cancerous tissue during an abdominal surgery in January. She is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy and focusing on healing her mind, body, and spirit, with William’s support serving as a great source of comfort.

Overall, the absence of Prince Harry, King Charles III, and possibly Princess Kate from Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding is due to various reasons such as personal health, royal duties, and family dynamics. Despite the notable absentees, the wedding is expected to be a grand affair with hundreds of guests in attendance. Grosvenor’s close connection to the royal family, as a godfather to both Archie and Prince George, further emphasizes the significance of the event. The absence of certain royals does not diminish the joyous occasion and the celebration of love between Grosvenor and Henson.
