In her new memoir, Rebel Wilson reveals that comedian and actor Mickey Gooch Jr. was her first sexual partner at age 35. Wilson writes that her weight struggles played a part in why she waited so long to have sex, believing that as a larger woman, she was not seen as sexually attractive. She also shares that her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis motivated her to live in the moment and not put off experiences like sex any longer.

Wilson dated Gooch for a few months in 2015, and they were seen acting cozy and cuddly towards each other during a dinner date in Manhattan. She writes that she felt comfortable sleeping with him about a month into their relationship, flying him out to stay with her in her NYC hotel room. To prepare for the big night, Wilson watched porn and used a vibrator the night before, in order to ease her nerves and be more present in the moment.

Despite the positive experience, Wilson and Gooch eventually split in September 2015, with a source stating that it was hard for him but they remained friends. Reflecting on losing her virginity later in life, Wilson now sees it as a positive experience and encourages others not to feel pressured to rush into such experiences before they are ready. She believes that people can wait until they feel mature enough to handle it, whether that be in their teenage years or later in life like she did in her thirties.

In February 2023, Wilson confirmed her engagement to jewelry designer Ramona Agruma. She shared with People magazine her journey of self-discovery in her forties, exploring her sexuality and realizing she was attracted to both men and women. Wilson mentioned that after her father’s death, she started opening herself up to relationships and the idea of marriage, which eventually led to her discovering her attraction towards women. She believes this is a positive sign of societal progress in accepting and understanding different sexual orientations and preferences.
