Heavy rain in Karaman caused water to accumulate on the roads, leading to vehicles getting stuck and accidents. In Hamidiye Mahallesi, at the Ereğli bridges intersection, a truck was able to stop by climbing onto the median on the slippery road. The intersection was temporarily closed by the police for traffic control, but was reopened after the truck was removed. In Osmangazi Mahallesi, vehicles stuck on Alpaslan Türkeş Boulevard and Mara road were loaded onto tow trucks and removed from the road once the water receded.
One of the drivers, Şevket Hotamışlı, who was stuck on Mara road, mentioned that the rain came suddenly and he couldn’t realize how deep the water was until his vehicle stalled. He had been stuck there for 20 minutes and tried calling the municipality’s rescue teams, but they were busy dealing with flooded shops in the industrial zone. In University Mahallesi on Ibrahim Öktem Street, municipal construction vehicles were deployed to clear the water accumulations and remove the stranded vehicles.
In Konya, heavy rainfall in the afternoon caused water to accumulate on the streets and roads in the city center, resulting in traffic disruptions. The Konya Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center teams started working to drain the water on the roads. During the operation, some streets were closed to traffic while others were reduced to one lane to allow traffic to flow.
In Karapınar district, some businesses and underpasses were flooded due to the heavy rainfall. The water accumulations on the streets disrupted the city traffic. Efforts were made to drain the water from the underpasses and roads to restore normal flow of traffic. The rainy weather in Karaman and Konya led to the pooling of water on the roads, causing inconvenience for drivers and prompting the authorities to take action to clear the roads and assist stranded vehicles.
