Elazığ Probation Directorate is carrying out vocational training projects to reintegrate convicts into society by providing them with job skills. Approximately 3 months ago, master instructors working at the Public Education Center provided a certified painting course for convicts benefiting from probation measures. Elazığ Probation Director İrem Pirinççi stated that they work in cooperation with relevant institutions to provide the necessary assistance and support services needed to help released convicts adapt to society and prevent them from committing crimes again. Thanks to the painting course provided for construction sector workers, convicts learned the trade and acquired a profession. Pirinççi mentioned that after learning the painting profession, they painted a 5-story institution building and did a great job.

Moreover, Pirinççi highlighted that the convicts provided free maintenance and repair services, stating that during the students’ holiday period, convicts benefiting from probation measures tried to meet the needs of schools by carrying out cleaning, maintenance, and repair work for 20 schools. They also did painting, whitewashing, and cleaning work for the elementary school in Güzelyalı village. Pirinççi emphasized that they are preparing both urban and rural schools for the new academic year in the best possible way, and if any school requests, they will redirect convicts to assist. Elazığ Deputy Mayor Nazif Bilginoğlu mentioned that they provided material support for painting schools in the context of the project carried out as a member of the Preservation Board.

Bilginoğlu underscored the importance of social responsibility projects and stated that they are always involved in such projects either as the executor, partner, or stakeholder with the instructions of the Mayor. Metin Özgen, the branch manager in charge of vocational and technical education at the Provincial Directorate of National Education, also expressed that the project is very beneficial for convicts and educational institutions, providing significant contributions to schools. The collaboration between Elazığ Probation Directorate, educational institutions, and municipalities in implementing vocational training projects not only contributes to the rehabilitation of convicts but also plays a crucial role in improving schools’ infrastructure and upkeep. Through practical training programs like the certified painting course, convicts have the opportunity to develop valuable job skills, contributing to their successful reintegration into society and reducing the likelihood of reoffending.
