The iconic home featured in Prince’s film “Purple Rain” has been transformed into a limited-time Airbnb rental for up to 100 fans visiting Minneapolis. The two-story house is filled with memorabilia, including iconic outfits worn by the late music superstar. Guests can also play around with ’80s outfits and styles to channel their inner rock star. The rental cost is just $7 per person per night, based on Prince’s favorite number, with a total of 25 nightly stays available over seven weeks from Oct. 26 to Dec. 14.

This unique Airbnb rental experience coincides with the 40th anniversary of the movie “Purple Rain,” which catapulted Prince to superstardom. The film and its hit album featured iconic songs like the title track, “Let’s Go Crazy,” and “When Doves Cry.” Prince’s genre-defying blend of rock, funk, and soul earned him over 100 million in record sales. Sadly, Prince passed away in 2016 due to an accidental fentanyl overdose at the age of 57, at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

The Airbnb rentals are hosted by Lisa Coleman and Wendy Melvoin, longtime friends and musical collaborators of Prince, on behalf of Airbnb, the late musician’s estate, and Warner Bros. Discovery. Guests can explore the home’s basement, where a replica of The Kid’s bedroom from the film is available for sleeping, complete with lavender pillows and an ’80s style cassette player. A lounge area allows guests to play musical instruments like guitar, drums, and an upright piano, immersing them in The Kid’s world.

The house is adorned with plenty of Prince’s signature color, purple, paying tribute to his career and influence. Wall art depicting purple bananas and QR codes linking to commentary from the hosts give visitors a deeper understanding of Prince’s legacy. Booking requests can be made online starting at 6 a.m. Pacific time on Oct. 2 through 11:59 p.m. Pacific time on Oct. 6. A pool of potential guests will be chosen at random, with final invitations based on fans’ reasons for wanting to stay in the iconic home. This unique experience offers Prince fans a chance to connect with his music and cultural impact in a truly immersive way.
