Escape From Tarkov players were surprised with a sudden announcement of server maintenance scheduled for later in the day. The downtime will begin at 11 pm BST / 6 pm EDT and is expected to last for about two hours. Players will be unable to access the game during this period, with the possibility of the maintenance being extended if any issues arise.

While the specifics of the maintenance were not disclosed, it is likely that this is a routine update rather than a patch or technical change. The hope is that this maintenance will address the lengthy queue times for the PvE mode, which have been a concern for players, especially since all Edge of Darkness owners now have access.

In anticipation of a major Escape From Tarkov patch expected to arrive soon, details were shared during a recent TarkovTV stream. The update, set to launch in early June, will introduce smaller changes before a planned wipe in August. The roadmap released following the stream confirmed that the June update will focus on connecting Escape From Tarkov and Escape From Tarkov Arena, with cross-progression and a new trader being added to both games.

Additional changes expected in the upcoming patch include a rework to the armor system and the option to purchase the PvE mode as a microtransaction. Numerous balance adjustments for both the main game and Arena are also on the agenda for this month. It is likely that these changes will be rolled out gradually over the course of the month, as has been the case with previous updates.

Many players are eagerly awaiting the wipe scheduled for August, which will likely include new hideout locations and weapons. The team is preparing for the game’s launch, so the wipe may be smaller in scale compared to previous ones. Despite this, it is anticipated to bring new content and improvements that will excite and engage the player base.
