In response to the risk of flooding in the Karaçay Mahallesi area in Bartın, Turkey, due to heavy rain, the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) teams have constructed barriers with rocks along the creek passing through the city center. DSİ and municipality teams are also creating barriers with sandbags at certain points to prevent flooding. As a result of the downpour, there were puddles of water on the roads, making it difficult for drivers to navigate the city and district roads.
Bartın Governor Nurtaç Arslan, who conducted inspections in risky areas, warned that more rainfall is expected. In preparation for the potential flooding, vehicles have been stationed in risky areas. Governor Arslan emphasized that all teams are on the field to respond to any emergencies. After a meeting following the Meteorological Agency’s warning, all necessary precautions have been planned and vehicles have been stationed in risky areas. Furthermore, amidst the effective storm in the Amasra district, fishing boats sought refuge at Amasra Port. Governor Arslan visited the district to gather information and ensure the safety of the residents. Bartın Municipality is also issuing warnings through loudspeakers in the city center, urging residents to be cautious and take necessary precautions against potential flooding and mudslide risks.
