Two parents in Texas, Denise Balbaneda and Gerald Gonzales, were charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily harm by omission after their 12-year-old daughter, Miranda Sipps, died from life-threatening injuries. The parents allegedly attempted to treat the girl’s injuries with smoothies and vitamins instead of immediately taking her to a hospital. Miranda, a cheerleader at Jourdanton Junior High School, suffered severe injuries on August 8 and was brought back home by her mother and stepfather, where they failed to seek medical assistance for her despite her being incapacitated and non-responsive. Balbaneda called 911 four days after the incident to report her daughter was having respiratory issues.

The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office noted that Balbaneda had been attempting to drive Miranda to the hospital herself when dispatchers instructed her to pull over so EMS could meet her. The girl was unconscious but alive when EMS reached her, and she was subsequently taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The sheriff’s office is investigating the circumstances that led to Miranda’s injuries and eventual death. Balbaneda and Gonzales were both arrested and each had their bond set at $200,000.

Authorities are still looking into the case and collecting information to determine what exactly happened to Miranda that led to her death. The parents’ decision to not seek medical assistance for her immediately after she was injured raises questions about their actions and decisions. Balbaneda’s call to 911 only came after her daughter was already in respiratory distress, indicating a delay in seeking help that may have contributed to the tragic outcome.

The tragic death of Miranda Sipps has sparked outrage and concern within the community as people grapple with the idea that a child could suffer such severe injuries and not receive the necessary medical attention in a timely manner. The sheriff’s office is working diligently to uncover the full extent of what happened to Miranda and hold those responsible for her death accountable. The circumstances surrounding the case are shocking and heartbreaking, leaving many wondering how such a tragic event could have unfolded.

As the investigation into Miranda’s death continues, the community is left to mourn the loss of a young girl whose life was cut short due to what appears to be a failure to provide her with the necessary medical care. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of seeking prompt medical attention for serious injuries and the potential consequences of delaying such care. Balbaneda and Gonzales now face legal consequences for their actions, highlighting the significance of acting quickly in emergency situations to ensure the safety and well-being of others.
