The Turkish Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, announced on his social media account that the Gendarmerie General Command’s Special Operations (JÖH), Gendarmerie Commando, and Security Guard Teams conducted the “Gürz-18” operations in the Cudi Mountain region, coordinated by the Gendarmerie General Command Anti-Terrorism Department and Intelligence Headquarters in Şırnak province, following intelligence work.
Minister Yerlikaya stated that a total of 10 M79 anti-tank missile ammunition, effective against aircraft and armored vehicles, were seized in Cudi Mountain during the operations. He shared the following information: “As a result of the operations, 10 M79 heat-guided anti-tank missile ammunition, 17 PKM machine guns, 12.7 mm anti-aircraft gun, 2 RPG-7 rocket launchers, zagros sniper rifle, dragunov sniper rifle, AK-47 assault rifle, 5 TM 62 M anti-tank mines, 123 rocket launcher ammunition, 600 anti-aircraft ammunition, 3,600 7.62 mm PKMS machine gun ammunition, 5,700 light weapons ammunition, 8 81mm mortar ammunition, 500 meters of cord, and a large amount of materials used in the construction of improvised explosive devices were seized.”
Yerlikaya emphasized that they conduct operations day and night, 365 days a year, both in urban and rural areas, and will continue their fight against terrorism with determination until the last terrorist is neutralized.
Congratulating the gendarmerie who carried out the operations, Yerlikaya stated, “The nests prepared by the separatist terrorist organization for logistic purposes and to carry out attacks were identified one by one and destroyed.”
