Moka Matcha Cafe in Midtown has created a buzz with their ability to print photos on top of frothy beverages. Customers have been impressed with the accuracy of the foamy resemblances to their original photos. After customers place their order, they can scan a QR code to upload a picture, which is then embossed onto the beverage’s foam with brown food coloring for an extra $1 charge. The cafe first debuted at Urbanspace Vanderbilt in October and recently opened a second location at 570 Lexington Ave.

One customer, Nate Myles, was amazed at how the etching on top of his vanilla cappuccino looked exactly like his original selfie. Myles, who works as a property manager at Spaces in the same building as the coffee shop, immediately posted a picture of the liquid portrayal on his Instagram story. Others, such as Rebecca Ani of Paramus, NJ, have also been impressed with the quality and detail of the foamy artwork. Ani ordered a latte and uploaded a photo of herself taken at Lake Welch in her native Rochester.

While most people choose to replicate photos of themselves in their beverages, Moka Matcha Cafe also sees customers requesting pictures of their pets, such as dogs and cats. Social media manager Gabriela Rodriguez shared that customers often come for various photo requests, with one girl even requesting a Hello Kitty latte that garnered attention on social media. Rodriguez enjoys witnessing customers’ reactions when they receive their personalized cup of coffee, with many smiling and reminiscing about the memories associated with the photos.

The process of creating the photo artwork is streamlined, with customers able to upload their picture via a QR code that goes directly to a machine dedicated to creating the artwork. Once the barista has prepared the beverage, they place it underneath the machine, and in less than a minute, the photo is embossed onto the foam with food coloring. Customers have the option to choose from various beverages, such as lattes, cappuccinos, iced cold brew, and iced lattes, all of which can be customized with their desired photo.

The cafe has become a hit with customers looking for unique and personalized gifts for their friends and family. Ani mentioned that she believed the photo beverages would be a great gift idea for coworkers, and she planned to inform her friends about the cafe’s offerings. With two locations in Midtown East, Moka Matcha Cafe continues to attract a diverse range of customers interested in experiencing the novelty of printed photos on their coffee beverages. Whether customers choose to replicate photos of themselves or their pets, the cafe has successfully tapped into the demand for personalized and visually appealing drinks.

Overall, Moka Matcha Cafe has successfully created a unique and innovative experience for coffee lovers in Midtown East. Customers have been impressed with the accuracy and quality of the photo artwork that adorns their beverages. From selfies to pet photos, the cafe has catered to a range of requests and continues to delight customers with their personalized beverage offerings. With a streamlined process for creating the foamy artwork and a variety of beverage options available, Moka Matcha Cafe has become a popular destination for individuals looking to add a touch of creativity to their daily coffee routine.
