The investigation into the fire in a nightclub located on Gayrettepe Yıldız Posta Street Gönenoğlu Sokak, which led to the deaths of 29 people and injuries of 2 others on the -1st and -2nd floors of a 16-storey building, has been completed. Eleven suspects who were taken into custody have completed the legal proceedings at the prosecutor’s office.

After their statements were taken at the Istanbul Courthouse, 9 out of the 11 suspects were referred to the criminal judge of peace with a request for arrest on charges of “causing the death of more than one person by negligence.” Two suspects were released after their statements were taken at the prosecutor’s office.

Eight out of the 9 individuals who were taken to court were arrested, while one person was placed under judicial control. The investigation revealed that the fire broke out on April 2nd during renovation work at the nightclub, leading to the tragic loss of lives.

As part of the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the responsible manager of the establishment, the partners of the establishment, the accountant, the operations manager, the person responsible for metal work in the renovation, the owner of the metal work company, and the furniture maker were detained. The furniture maker was released after police procedures.

Additionally, the technical service manager of the establishment, the owner of a stage production company with a criminal record related to workplace accidents, and the owner of a technical service company for stage productions were also taken into custody for further questioning. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire and hold those responsible accountable for the tragic incident.
