Perez had recently been promoted to manager at a deli in Metairie, Louisiana, and was described as a hard-working and dedicated employee who was excited about her new role. She was known for being a loving mother to her 4-year-old son, Melo, whom she often brought to work and taught basic learning skills during breaks. A GoFundMe account was set up by her employer to cover Perez’s burial expenses and support her son’s future needs as he transitions into a new living situation.
