Natasha Lyonne has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ upcoming superhero film, Fantastic Four, in an undisclosed role. The movie is set to begin filming in England this summer and is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025. The cast includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. Ozarks’ Julia Garner will portray Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer, with Ralph Ineson playing the primary antagonist, Galactus. Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich will also appear in unspecified roles.

The latest adaptation of Fantastic Four, directed by Matt Shakman, focuses on Marvel’s First Family. The first big-screen iteration of the superhero team released in 2005 garnered $154.6 million domestically and $333.5 million globally, while the 2007 sequel saw a slight drop in earnings with $131.9 million domestically and $301.9 million worldwide. Unfortunately, the 2015 version of Fantastic Four was poorly received by critics and faced production challenges, resulting in disappointing box office returns. Natasha Lyonne, known for her roles in Orange Is the New Black and Russian Doll, brings her talent and experience to the project, following her recent Emmy nomination for her work in Peacock’s Poker Face.

Pedro Pascal’s portrayal of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic and Vanessa Kirby’s performance as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman will add depth to the Fantastic Four cast. Julia Garner’s involvement as the female Silver Surfer and Ralph Ineson’s portrayal of Galactus promise to bring villains to life on screen. Lyonne, who began her acting career as a child and has since received accolades like SAG Awards and Emmy nominations, is also a talented director and producer. Additionally, she and Maya Rudolph collaboratively ran the production company Animal Pictures, with Lyonne now continuing to operate it independently.

With her diverse acting background and Emmy recognition, Natasha Lyonne’s addition to the Fantastic Four cast is highly anticipated by fans. Her previous work in acclaimed series like Orange Is the New Black and Russian Doll showcases her exceptional acting abilities and creative talent. As the superhero film commences filming in England, viewers can look forward to seeing Lyonne alongside a talented ensemble cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The movie’s scheduled release date in 2025 has generated excitement among Marvel Cinematic Universe followers, who anticipate a thrilling and visually captivating adaptation of the beloved superhero team.
